After months of suffering through another Carolina heat wave, my air conditioning unit went out. Upon the repairman's inspection, I was informed that I had to replace several parts, with a clogged pipe in the attic that needed to be cut out. An hour later, the house was cool again, and it was back to the regular routine.

Until an ugly water stain showed up on the ceiling. Another call back to the repair company, another inspection, another clogged pipe replaced. And I had to schedule with a painter they had on call to come fix my ceiling.

Its always interesting the people you meet in life, if you take the time to talk with them. While chatting during the paint job, I learned that the painter (who happened to be a general contractor, who also fixed a hole in the wall while he was there) used to be a skateboarding pro in Charlotte back in the day (70s and 80s I'm guessing). We also talked a lot about life and music, especially a touching story about his good friend and his great guitar compositions.

Of course, I had to share with him that my business involved not only registering copyrights (for his friend's music), but I also happened to scan and restore vintage photographs. He had an old album of his action shots from his skateboarding days, and I couldn't wait to get to work on helping restore and revitalize his collection. Here are a few photos I've retouched so far.

I guess the moral of the story...just be friendly with everyone and take the time out to get to know people, anybody. You never realize the rich stories that all of us have to tell, and life's journey is always more enriched when its intertwined with others.
